Do I have to pay for the past owners overdue bills???

Hello!

I have a flip in Louisville KY that we are a few weeks out from putting it on the market, but the past owner has an overdue account balance on his water bill for $300.

Although we want to say this isn't our problem, could they put a lien on the house for unpaid water?? We are paying for ourselves, but not sure if we need to pay this for him so we don't get stuck with a lein.....

Thank you in advanced for the help!

@Alex Coke

Yes you would be responsible. Did you not use a title company and get title insurance? That should of been handled when you bought the house
