Common Pet Fees - Asheville / Hendersonville
I've done my share of renting throughout North Carolina and have seen many different approaches to this.
What are you seeing as common here?
Pet "Deposit"? Additional monthly "Pet Rent"? Both?
I'm a huge pet lover. I also have to protect my investment/ reduce out of pocket expenses that may come with allowing pets.

We just do a $200 pet fee up front. So far I haven’t had any issues although I’m sure we will at some point.
We do a non refundable pet fee upfront.
I charge a non-refundable pet fee, and a monthly pet rent of an additional $25/month. The
I charge $25 per month per pet with no additional deposit.
We have a $250 Refundable pet deposit and $25/month pet rent.
@Robert I add $75/dog and $50/ cat to rent monthly. I used to get $200/$100 when our vacancy rate was near zero. This way I collect a higher deposit as well. Monthly visit first 3 months to ensure they’re not letting fido chew holes in the ceiling. Quarterly after that. They also sign a pet agreement stating what needs to be done etc and that one specific pet is allowed (license #____) etc so that 1 doesn’t turn into 5 and when doggo croaks they aren’t getting a replacement that’s batsh*t crazy etc. Screen the animals well. Very well. No less than 45 min meet n greet, and always good to do it on site of the property.
