I am working on a deal to purchase 5 single family units. I found the deal on Craigslist. I have found the owner information of the properties from the county tax access. The information is listed as an LLC. How can I verify that the person I am negotiating with is the actual owner of the properties?

I would be direct and ask if it's a wholesaler.

@Sam Shueh is right. I wouldn't even stress it as long as an attorney or pro closes it. That's very basic on their checklist and they're responsible for 1099s to seller so they should get it right.

Title insurance is cheap.
