Just listened to podcast number 107 w/ Grant Cardone. Stop everything you are doing, skip to that podcast and absorb the energy! also, if you have not read "rich dad, poor dad" by Robert Kiyosaki  order it today on Amazon (it's like $7).  I wish I read that book when I was 20…I'd be a millionaire through real estate today (18 years later).  Everything else: write down your goals and take action.

I remember a podcast I heard where a recent RE business hired an assistant from another local realtor, and that realtor started spreading untrue rumors around town about his business in retaliation.  He followed up with sending them brownies and a nice note that created a tranquility and peace between the two business'.  You could do the same. Send over a box of cookies or brownies with a nice note saying your here to help the community and the industry. See where that goes.

Alexander, Welcome to BP. The Podcasts are a wealth of knowledge. Go to iTunes and download podcast show 1 and keep listening (if you haven't all ready).

Welcome, Wei. I am in Jacksonville as well. You should have an easy transition with your current and past experience in RE.

Carlos, welcome and thank you for your service to our great country.  Podcasts are SO EASY and informative. I've learned a TON of information there.  Go to iTunes and search "biggerpockets" and you'll have days of learning. Also, the "ultimate beginners guide " is where you start. search for it on this site.

Mary, hello and welcome. One source of knowledge that sheds light on your inquiry is the biggerpockets podcast (free on iTunes). I started on number 1 and have learned so much from each 50-60 min podcast.

This has been a great thread. Lots of excellent tips. My brother lived in Hood River for two years. It's a beautiful region of the country.

Restating your question added clarity to the interpretation of your question.  As a new investor myself, I am opened eye and ear for constructive criticism and guidance.

I think it was the verbage of your initial question that Michael responded to with a technically accurate remark.  "Idiotic request" is not an insult.

Webster defines "idiot" as  someone who acts in a self-defeating or significantly counterproductive way. Asking for rent one week early would certainly be self defeating and significantly counterproductive.   If you continued to ask for rent early, you wouldn't have renters longterm, therefor counterproductive.
I think we all know now what you were TRYING to ask. But, that is not what you posted initially.
