My partner and I purchased a 3 unit rental property (our first) in Illinois, we both live in PA. We need to work with a CPA for the first time as opposed to Turbo Tax. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance for any help!

Adam

Hey Brian, We are initially looking at SFR and duplexes, however the apartment market there is interesting to us as well. Have you worked with any good realtors in the area?
My business partner and I grew up in Bourbonnais and see an opportunity there to invest in some rental properties. What kind of investments have you done in the area?

My business partner and I are looking for a realtor in the Kankakee, IL area that has worked with investors or is an investor themselves.  We are currently living in PA so working remotely with them is key.

Thanks,

Adam

Thanks Steve Babiak I’ll check that out as well. I appreciate the tip.

Thanks @Carl Fischer I'll be sure to reach out to them and tell them you sent me.  I'm always looking to grow the network and I can already see that BP can be a great avenue and looking forward to learning more about DIG.

Thanks again!

Adam

Hi everyone,

I thought this was an obvious place to start now that I've stumbled on the new member thread. I've been getting acclimated to the site and the forums over the last week or so. So much great information is shared here. Not sure if I've seen a more open and information sharing centric business than REI.

Little bit about me: I'm just another guy who does the M-F grind and is looking for a better way to invest his money and at some point become financially free from the high stress/high demand job working for someone else. My business partner and I also want to ensure we spend our time making a positive impact on the communities that we live in. We both currently own homes in a rapidly gentrifying area of Philadelphia and we see first hand the negative impact that uncontrolled and irresponsible development has a long time tenants. We both see an opportunity to make a great living for ourselves while responsibly developing the neighborhoods that are full of blight and vacant properties.

I'm a transplant from Chicago, IL and have been in Philly for the last 4 years. I enjoy hiking, riding my bike around this great city, and bar hopping on the weekends. I'd love to meet up with anyone local to chat. I'm looking to grow my REI network. I feel I'm pretty good at setting up business systems and developing processes so if anyone needs any support on that I'm happy to chat.

Looking forward to engaging with more people on the site and purchasing our first investment property in early 2018.

If you made it this far, thanks a lot for reading and best of luck on your business endeavors.

Adam

Hello everyone,

As my partner and I build the backend of our business and define our partnership agreement we want to find a good RE attorney to speak to about the agreement and ensure we are both protected. We also would like to speak to a financial advisor/CPA to ensure we set up the partnership properly. If anyone has any recommendations, I would love to hear them.

Thanks in advance for the support!

Adam

Great! Thanks for posting. My partner and I are on the waiting list for the mentorship program you referenced. It will be great to hear Ken speak.

Hi everyone,

Very new to BP and my partner and I are getting our finances together and strategizing to purchase our first property in early 2018. I wanted to reach out to see if anyone can point me in the direction of some good info on rehab and construction costs. I understand that each property is very different and regionally labor rates and costs can vary, but just looking for general info on estimating.  There may be some user error on my part in navigating the site as I'm still getting the hang of the forum, so if there is something obvious on BP there is a good chance I've missed it.

We are really looking forward to getting more involved and learning as much as possible, thanks in advance for all the info that is shared on this site and hopefully answers to my request.

Best,

Adam
