I'd highly suggest checking out the Kenosha/Pleasant Prairie market.  Lots of growth and rental demand going on there.  It would be close enough to Chicago to drive up to also.  I grew up there and have some investment property there.  Happy to help!

I think starting in your "backyard" is the easiest way to get started.  That being said, if the returns cannot be justified, starting in a different market is definitely doable.  You just want to make sure you align yourself with the right people in the market you choose.  Having a good team on the ground (especially a PM) will be key.

Congrats!  Kenosha is a great market.  I can make an intro to a PM company if you want to shoot me a message.

@Account Closed Yes, we use Smart Asset Management.  They manage over 2,000 units in the Wisconsin area.  I can make an intro if you want to shoot me a message.

You will need to get more granular on your deal criteria.  Just like any market in the country right now, multifamily deals are flying off the shelves.  Having a more specific criteria will help you.

Kenosha is a great market with lots of tenant demand.  I live and invest in the Milwaukee area.  I personally prefer some of the tertiary markets surrounding Milwaukee over the city. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Who else has been able to quit their W2 job and transition to full time real estate investor?  It's a great feeling!

3 years ago I started the journey of learning about REI. The BP podcasts were actually what got me into it.

Fast forward to today and along with my partners and investors, we own over $10M worth of real estate in the greater Milwaukee area.

To those that are just getting started in this space and feel overwhelmed..keep grinding! I'm here to tell you that owning cash flowing real estate will change your life.

Nothing wrong with that!  Hit up some of the Milwaukee FB pages with the deal info, you will get a swarm of buyers.

I run a FB group called Wisconsin Apartment Investors
