Welcome @William Boeklen - I've seen a lot of activity in North Carolina on the website Connected Investors. You may want to check that out. I've found it useful mostly for looking at properties, but you may find some good connections there too. All the best to you!

Edit: Also, this book could provide some great value to hone your strategy:

HI @Tripp Atkinson, does your team like to invest in these properties in GP or LP roles as well? There are some great commercial projects being run in Flint Michigan right now, and I've heard the city is turning around. I can connect you with the manager of those projects if you're interested. Let me know!

Hi folks,

I've picked my niche in REI and I'm looking to grow my knowledge in the space of apartment syndication. I've picked up Joe Fairless' book "Best Ever Apartment Syndication Book" and started reading it the day I got it. What other books/ resources should I add to my list? I've also found Michael Blank's podcast and have been listening to those in my down time. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Hey folks,

Per some great advice on the podcasts, I'm one of the co-hosts starting up a small Mastermind in my local Detroit Market. I've been part of professional development groups before but not having led one, do you have any insights on what I can do to serve our members well and maximize our time together? Below are my rough agenda points so far...I'd love to hear your feedback (please keep it professional and constructive). Thanks!

Please come ready to share and grow together in any of the following avenues. Bring any laptops, papers and notebooks, and business cards you'd like. The venue has wifi for our convenience.

@Maricruz Romero - Hey Maricruz, Brandon Turner's book on rental property investing has a great list of questions to interview property managers. I haven't read it yet, but I gather that the Long Distance Real Estate investing book that BP puts out has some detailed notes pertaining to this topic specifically. I hope that helps! Good luck!

@Brandon Poe - Hey, good on you for seeing this potential. What would be ideal for you in this door-to-door manner would be to start wholesaling. If you haven't read it yet, then check this book out:

If You Can't Wholesale After This: I've Got Nothing For You...

Also, Detroit is pretty hot right now as there are a lot of value add opportunities as the city is rebounding. If you ever make it up to this area I have a great wholesaler I can connect you with and I've got a group of buyers that are consistently looking for property on the outskirts of the city; Washtenaw, Oakland, Macomb, and Lenawee Counties.

Let me know if you ever want to grab a coffee or have a phone chat to discuss. I'm a buy and hold investor looking at duplexes, triplexes, and quadplexes through the area and I work with apartment buyers through the USA. If you ever want to leverage your skills into apartment wholesaling, I'd love to chat further; this is a high demand role and one that my team is looking to fill.

Have a great rest of your week and good luck!

@Christopher Dargin - Welcome, Christopher! I'm in the Detroit area as well. Buying two properties already? Have you got a team established yet? If you need help on that, don't hesitate to get in touch. I have a great property manager I can recommend.

Also, if you haven't been to a meeting yet you should check out the MREI meeting this Thursday in Troy (it's in the event listings on BP and you can find it through Google). Also, I highly recommend the Oakland County REIA. They're very education and relationship-building focussed. All the best to you and I look forward to meeting you around the Detroit market!

Hey folks - I'm a Canadian living in the Metro Detroit area. If this spot of the US grabs your eye and you're looking to branch into a team here, please get in touch. I've got a great Property Manager with reliable contractors, lawyers, and tenant base across the whole Metro Detroit area and we're looking to grow her and my portfolio. We're buy and hold investors looking primarily in small MFHs and considering AirBNBs as well. I'd be happy to plug you in if it makes sense to us all.

Detroit has a wide variety of markets, but the city is bouncing back and if you buy in safe areas we're a very rent friendly city.

Also, if the market dips in Alberta I'm looking to get a property or two there over the coming ~3 years. If anyone works in that space and wants to JV in the future, please let me know! Thanks!
