Hi Holly, welcome to BP!
Small world! I'm from Bartlett too, but I'll be moving to Chicago next month. Are you looking to invest in the Bartlett/suburb areas?

I'm in the same boat as you @Matt Overbee , but I just passed my RE license exam last Saturday.
Good luck to you with your exam, and I will be watching this thread for any advice that anyone can offer!
Hey Juan. Welcome to BP!
I'm somewhat of a beginner myself, but you are definitely on the right track by being a part of the BP community.
I participated in a BP meetup in Schaumburg last month that went pretty well. There have been talks about another one, but if you're interested I can get you into contact with the organizers.
Cheers,
Casey

Welcome to BP @Jim Luby !
It seems like more and more people from the Chicago area are joining BP (myself included) which is great!
There have been a few Chicago area BP meetups and talks of one coming up soon if you're interested. Just a nice networking opportunity to be aware of.
Have a nice day!

Welcome to BP Chris!
I'm located northeast of you, and your investing strategy seems incredibly sound. I plan on implementing a similar strategy myself in a few years.
Glad to hear you're finding success with it, and hopefully BP will be a great tool for you in the future.
Cheers!
Casey
Hi Marialinda,
I'm relatively a newbie from the Chicago suburbs, and I've attended a few seminars, and webinars, and have read a ton about Real Estate Investing. I haven't paid for any training yet per se, but I am in the process of getting my Real Estate license. I just finished my first 75 hours, and I learned A TON about the real estate buying process, many of the technical terms, and even the laws around real estate too. It's not necessary to have in order to simply invest, but I have a lot more confidence going into my future deals with this education to back me up.
That's just one thing you could consider doing. Again, it's not absolutely necessary to get started though.

Welcome to BP Mancill! I'm from the Chicago suburbs as well, and I've also been reading Bigger Pockets for the last few months now. BP is a great resource, and I know that networking and connecting with others will be the key to a more successful real estate business. I'm a bit more on the beginners side, but I am open to meeting new people especially in the Chicago area.
Cheers!

Hi @Matthew Kinsella ! Welcome to BP! I work in Hoffman Estates and know Schaumburg quite well. I'd agree with @Shem J. and definitely check out the podcasts if you can. I listen to them on my way to work most days.@Matthew Kinsella
My first investments will be a small multifamily as well, and I'd suggest reading the articles on BP about those. I'm also getting my Real Estate License and currently taking courses at Harper College. It's a nice insight in all things Real Estate that you might want to consider, even if you don't actually practice.
Cheers!

Welcome to BP Brandon! I went to school in Champaign, IL (U of I) and lived there for about 6 years. I think you have a lot of unique options if you're looking to get started in the Central Illinois area.
Have you checked out the BP podcasts? They're pretty informative (and entertaining) too.
Cheers!
