RE can be done on your time. It depends on how much time your willing to put in. What area of RE are you interested in? Have you joined your local REI club?

The best advice that I can give you at this point is to read all the postings that you can and learn as much as you can. Find out which part of RE interests you the most, then pursue it. Also, join your local REI club and network with other investors, lenders, realtors, etc.
You can also ask questions here. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience.

I agree with NavyDoc when they say that the REI club will help you. It will give you some better ideas about RE, just as dcg123 mentioned. You may find that their are many different areas of RE that you might have an interest in. Find those interests and then pursue them.
