I'm eager but no know-how... (I eating everything on this site tho)

You can make money in real estate as long as you commit to working your butt off. If I were you my first step would be to find a job in the industry. Then you can educate yourself and make money at the same time. It would also allow you to network and find deals. There are people that just make money by wholesaling everyday but it is a hard thing to do with no other income just starting out.

I appreciate it. Will definitely look into getting my feet wet in the industry. Do you think becoming an agent would be a good start? Or are there some other potential jobs to have my eyes open for?

I don't know much, but I think it would be good to keep the tenant happy especially since they have been there for a while. Would it be possible to sell your fridge and use that money to buy the fridge the tenant is replacing it with?

Edit: Just saw your updated post. Since their deposit money is depleted and they won't take your fridge, it would be a hard no for me :(

WOW... I did not think I would get this many replies lol...  First I want to thank you all for the warm welcome, I truly appreciate it.  I still a tad bit new to this website so please pardon my late response.

@John Moore I want to thank you for advising the podcasts to me.  I have been listening to them and they are really helpful in terms of getting a bigger perspective of different aspects of the field.

@Darren Sager Thanks for the plethora of information!  I will become a pro/plus member one day, but that just isn't today unfortunately.  More likely when I go back to the States.

@James Wise Thanks for the welcome! What do you do in terms of Real Estate Investing?

@John Van Uytven Oh wow, I thought for sure I would be the only person in ROK (Republic of Korea) on BP.  Goes to show how small the world really is!  As far as the meeting that sounds awesome.  What are the meetings primarily about?  If you don't mind me asking prematurely.

@Corey Beckwith Thank you for your reply! How's Somerset treating you!? I will definitely keep your words of advice, a buddy of mine when I was in Beijing, had a similar type of plan and the same exact location Shenzhen! I never thought anything of it, until you just mentioned it. Thank you, I'm finding the more I learn the less I actually know. Also are the annual meetings, because I am really pushing my parents to start investing and even though I'm not physically there, I feel maybe a couple of meetings may do the trick. Thanks in advance, also apology in advance (I am obsessed with REI) any good books you can recommend?

@Ken Morris Oh George! The language you used is pretty strong (in my opinion), I will try my best to answer without offending anyone.  In the ROK, as John stated, it is a male dominated society.  Actually, John answered most of it, if I had to touch on anything else I would say that the average Korean life is extremely stressful.  I am so happy to be an American and not have to deal with the cultural and societal pressures that they have to deal with on a day-to-day basis.  There is no wonder why ROK is the third highest country for suicide rates.  Many of the men have to support their families by working extremely long hours six days a week and on top of that are forced to go drinking with their boss, as John stated.

Many women are noticing the treatment of foreigners (non Koreans) to be favourable, because of the cultural differences and the ability to express themselves more freely, as well as the chance of raising a family outside of the pressure poured onto child to be education machines.

With that said many Koreans do in fact love their lives and wouldn't even think about leaving to live in another country.  This is all just from my experiences here maybe John might disagree.  But that's the get thing about the freedom of expression and opinions right.  Just here to learn and educate when I can.

*Sigh* another long post.  I am not a one word kind of guy! lol

My name is David (you can call me Dave if you like).  I graduated college in 2012 (dual degree Pre-Law and Africana Studies; completed in 3 years 2009-12) and for the last two years I have been teaching English in Asia, last year was Beijing, China and currently Seoul, South Korea.  I'm 23 years old, my home (Parent's house) in America is in New Jersey.

Before I came to South Korea, my parents told me about the idea Real Estate Investing.  Upon doing a ton of research (google is amazing), I stumbled on to this site (which is amazingly awesome!).  My contract (in Korea) is coming to a close soon and I am planning on coming back to the States and buying my first property (hopefully in NJ, but I'm open minded).

It is important for me to state, while I really wouldn't mind being extremely rich, my main goal is helping people. From my travel's I have experienced people less fortunate than I, while I was able to help teach them (not only English, others such as Basketball and few other hobbies) I realized that yes I was able to make change, but it is really small in the Global scheme of things. I want to use want I make from REI to help setup nonprofit programs around the world!

Well that's me in a nutshell, I'm looking to make many new friends.  Reply or DM/PM me anyone is welcome.  I don't have really any experience in Real Estate, but I won't let that stop me as I am extremely confident that I will succeed!! :)  However, I do have two years of experience outside the States that someone may find interesting.

This may be long and I'm sorry I don't know the average post length for intros on BP.  But if anyone specifically from New Jersey (all other states are welcome too!) would like to help a young ambitious man with goals, I'm here and would truly appreciate it!!
