Happy New Year! Yes, the onboarding process is extensive. But the benefits outweigh the frustration. It took us about 3 months with onboarding to get up and running. They do have policies in place, so if you're not willing to go all in, then this is not the software for you. I have had my business for almost 3 years and solely have worked with Appfolio. It's powerful software, and it will make running your business easier in the long run.
