He never had a real estate empire. A infomercial/seminar empire, perhaps. He is a con man. Actually I thought his seminar "empire" was still doing well.

Of course I tell them I am the owner. It would be deceptive to tell them otherwise. As best as I can tell, the only benefit to not telling a tenant you are the owner is if you are wishy washy and afraid of confrontation. I have no problem telling a tenant to go to he!!

Putting a lot of screws in can negate the need for the thin set. Thin set is probably only essential for thin strips of hardie backer or thin sub flooring. If they are screwed down with the proper screws every spot on the hardie backer, (6"??) it should be fine.

I watched the first two episodes. The conclusions were less than satisfying.In order to get the contractor to agree to be on the show, the producers have no choice but to negotiate an agreement with the contractors which basically amounts to a slap on the wrist. Unfortunately I think it is a flawed concept. If we are to believe the accusations against the contractors, they deserved to be charged criminally, or beat down MMA style. I realize that contractors can get away with stuff like this in big cities because local law enforcement, for their own benefit, defines such misconduct as civil not criminal, but that does not change my opinion that they deserve to be charged criminally. The homeowners make out well, because the show basically pays for their remodel. Those kind of fake fell good, extreme makeover home edition, endings don't appeal to me, and are not consistent with Adam Carrola's (whom I like) past projects.
