@Anthony G - No, there were very few options to begin with so I went with the best performing options... and they still are according to the funds summary.

@Jassem A. - I didn't think about the reserves aspect which is important so thanks a bunch!

@Link McGinnis - My plan is to fix it up gradually over the next couple years and rent out the entire place. And I currently have no other rentals.

Good Morning BP!

So I have about $19k stuck in a 401(k) account with a former employer. I'm fairly young, 30, so my investment allocation was 85/15 stocks to bonds. Since its inception over 5 years ago, my overall rate of return has been 5%.... not that stellar. I've been pondering on withdrawing the money and using the funds towards updating my personal residence in preparation for renting it out. I understand the tax implications if I do go forward with this but wanted to ask the BP community before doing so.

Thanks in advance for any advice/support!

It can be done but it takes work. It's all about consistency and putting systems in place to make things easier, especially with a full-time W-2 job. Not sure about the markets around London but don't expect deals to fall in your lap right and left. You've got to stick to the grind when you're 3-4 months into your marketing campaign and still haven't done a deal yet. Again, its about consistency and systems.

Hope this helps.

On my way to and from work (1 hour commute). I think 45 minutes would be ideal.
