Just wanted to mention.  Are the metal pipes galvanized metal (silver) or cast iron (black).  Galvanized rust from the inside out and clog like an artery.   I generally replace the galvanized waste lines with plastic.  Cast Iron I would definitely try snaking

When is Asbestos Dangerous

When left intact and undisturbed, asbestos containing materials do not pose a health risk to people working or living in buildings. Asbestos containing material is not generally considered to be harmful unless it is releasing dust or fibers into the air where they can be inhaled or ingested. Many of the fibers will become trapped in the mucous membranes of the nose and throat where they can then be removed, but some may pass deep into the lungs, or, if swallowed, into the digestive tract.

Asbestos is hazardous when it is friable. The term "friable" means that the asbestos is easily crumbled by hand, releasing fibers into the air. Sprayed on asbestos insulation is highly friable. Asbestos floor tile is not.

Asbestos-containing ceiling tiles, floor tiles, undamaged laboratory cabinet tops, shingles, fire doors, siding shingles, etc. will not release asbestos fibers unless they are disturbed or damaged in some way.

Asbestos pipe and boiler insulation does not present a hazard unless the protective canvas covering is cut or damaged in such a way that the asbestos underneath is actually exposed to the air.

I view asbestos as a non issue unless you're going to be disturbing it.  Asbestos insulation on a pipe buried in a wall wouldnt concern me much.

Kind of an old thread but anyways I had a Toyota Tacoma that I liked.  I find my 4runner more useful all around now honestly.  Rear window rolling down makes it work great.  It hauls doors and 2x4s and such easier than the Tacoma.  I had a trailer with both vehicles.  I find I use the trailer a bit more often but not that much than before with the pickup.

Andrew make sure you are 100% positive that zoning/ any other restrictions will allow you to take a single family and add a unit.  Right now in Minneapolis the city would shut that idea down pretty quickly in most situations.  I have heard that may change in the future.  That can vary a lot city to city so just look into it before you are in contract to buy.

Just leave the FHA financing in place at the first house and do conventional on the 2nd. FHA requires you to live in the place for a year then you can move out and rent it (there are some reasons FHA allows you to move sooner/ get another FHA)

It actually says it in some of the descriptions

  • Solid poplar wood, natural wood veneers and clean, low-emission engineered wood construction for long-lasting use

So solid wood doors & poplar veneer over the mdf or particle board for the rest is what I would guess

It says  the doors are made of the specified wood.  I would imagine the rest of the cabinet is wood veneer over mdf or particle board.
