Hello.
I could be wrong, but I think you have a niche here on BP. I am not aware of anyone else who does what you do.
Have fun.

Good plan. I would stay away from the court house steps, except as an observer until you get a little experience under your belt. Those deals can look good and be REAL BAD. Unless you really know what you are doing, the wool can easily be pulled over your eyes. In fact, you may be the one pulling the wool, ie - fooling yourself, through lack of info.
Anyway, glad you are here. See you around.
Post: What's Important to You in a Political Party

I have enjoyed this thread tremendously - especially the subtle back & forth humor.
But, I take the title of the thread a little differently than most whom have already posted. Although I agree with some of the things said, I look at the thread title face on.
What‘s important to me in a political party? That they stand for something that is issue-oriented. You all listed numerous issues – I am not here to argue them. It is not the issues themselves, but the fact that a party stands for SOMETHING that I seek. I want a party of issues. So that I would know: the skidoodles stand for this and the ruckhousers stand for that. I could then choose between the two or three or four...
For example, which party is for the bailouts? – Republican President suggested it, but mostly Democrats in the House and Senate supported it (as did many congressional Repubs). Does that mean the Repub Pres was a turncoat or the Dem congress was? Some will argue neither is the case. Those who argue that would be right – since neither party stands for anything, except “what will help them to the most amount of power†then neither party has violated their principles.
If you have no principles you never have to worry about violating them. Or, as my father was fond of telling me: If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.

Education is the first step. It is good to see you have some experience on the rehab side - that will be real helpful as you move forward.
What do you see as your next step?

We are glad you are here.
Steelers vs. Eagles would have been a heck of a game.
Do you manage the rentals yourself?

There is certainly much to learn here. Where in PA are you from?

As a licensed Journeyman Electrician and an Electrical Engineer, I must say that some of the advice given above is not accurate. Some was.
Here is an attempt to clear the record.
To be in total code compliance, you must either:
- Install 2 prong outlets
- Install a GFCI receptacle (3 prong) marked with the sticker that comes with it "No ground present"
I must confess, without doing further research on the GFIC breaker suggestion, above, I am not sure if it is code compliant or not. I never heard of or saw that before. It makes LOGICAL sense, but the code is not always according to logic. It would surely require a sticker on each receptacle IF IT WAS code compliant.
Further, the non-grounded GFIC receptacle is only in accordance with code when not installed in a kitchen, bathroom, outdoor, or other wet locations. You may be able to get away with it in these special areas as long as the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) agrees, but it is not likely.

I have convinced myself that one of the best investments right now is FOOD.
There are many reasons, some presented above, for stocking up on food, but the best for me is the peace of mind it brings in knowing that my family of 5 can eat if there is a crisis. If all totally goes to hell: we have a house, candles, wood stove, wood, food, and well for water.
Others may not be able to put that all together, but they can buy some extra canned goods or pasta or cereal or rice, etc..
I also have some concerns that food prices will go sky high. Again, investing in food now may save me money later.
And, if all the fear-mongerers that are saying this stuff out there are wrong, worst case is I can go a few paydays without having to buy any food for the family.

AmEx is majorly hurting right now. In our construction business, we had a $30k LOC with them. We recently received a letter that ALL business LOC were cancelled as of 15 Jan 09 and outlined the payment plan for paying off the balance. Mind you, this was not based on credit score or past performance, but effected everyone.
That said, I do not know if what you presented is a good thing or bad thing, scam, or solution.

There is no better school for learning than the School of Hard Knocks. Hopefully, we can soften the blow of some of those hits, but pointing out our successes and suggestions - that is probably the best thing about the community here.
Glad to see you are off and running - we hope it works great for you.
