I'm not sure if meetups are still happening, but the Facebook group is still active.  I currently live in Atlanta, and am planning on moving to Florida this year.

There is an active investor group in the Auburn/Opelika area on facebook.  The admin is Jake Roland.  He has had a lot of people join the group lately.

I would ask your father to partner with you on this.  

This post is to let everyone know that we will be holding an Auburn, Opelika and surrounding communities investor group meeting on April 16, 2019.  I recently downgraded my account and cannot post this in the Events category.  Everyone is welcome to attend and no fees are charged.  

The location is 1600 Cunningham Drive, Opelika AL 36801 and it begins is at 6 pm.  Robert Garris from the Lee County Courthouse will be speaking on Alabama Tax Sales.  I understand that there are some new rules for tax sales coming out and he will address how those affect the Lee County area.  This is a good time for this topic since the Lee County Tax Sales are held the first week in May every year.

I've had a house for a few years now that had a section 8 tenant.  She lived there as a tenant for 12 years before I bought the house.  The only problem I had was when she got a job and her Section 8 payments dropped significantly.  She struggled quite a bit with making the rent on her low salary.  When her company went out of business this year and all the workers lost their jobs, Section 8 picked up most of her rent payment.  I can say that having a Section 8 tenant has been a good investment overall, but things can happen.

@Denise Evans We have had good attendance lately at our REIA meetings and I was wondering if you are still willing to come out and speak at one of our meetings. We only hold these meetings quarterly, and our next two dates are January 15th (third Tuesday) and April 16th (third Tuesday). It would mean a lot to me and Hollie Johnson and I know that there a lot of people here that are interested in updates for Alabama Tax Sales, but any other topics would go over well also.
