Did he say 3/4 of a million = $300k when taking about hypothetical price of his home near the start of the podcast?? :)

I don't have hard stats, but the area seems to be doing well in general.  The downtown area has improved a lot the last several years and continues.   There are some parts which are rough and on the news daily but I think every area has that.  Cost of living is still very reasonable in most areas.   Outside of downtown there area plenty of new single family home construction.  Be curious what you find in terms of multi family....
