I am curious about this too. My guess is that the vacation rental business is probably not going to be the same anytime soon though.

@Prasanth Meiyappan They added a 10% charge on top of the renovation costs as their project management fee. Yes. I was able to get multiple bids from a few different contractors before making my final decision. The property manager helped me design a layout that added 2 bedrooms and a bathroom to the property and also did weekly updates with videos. I thought the property management fee was well worth the money. Let me know if you have other questions.

Hello Connor,

I am a fairly new investor in Indianapolis (2 properties). I had a great experience with T&H Realty so far. They provided useful feedback on what areas to invest in and have a good system to screen tenants and manage renovations. My property required some pretty extensive renovations and they did a good job managing the renovations. Thanks.

Hello all, I have a tax question regarding rental property mortgage refinancing.

From my understanding, many of the loan costs (loan origination costs, appraisal, credit report, etc.) are amortized over the life of the loan. If I refinance my existing loan with a new one, can I deduct all the loan origination costs from the existing loan the year I complete the refinance?

Thank you.

@Chris Mason

Thank you for the insightful information. Do you think it would be a good idea to wait a while before doing a cash-out refi? I am thinking the rates and terms will be better once things calm down a bit.

@Benjamin Vail

I have a property in the Fountain Square area and another one close to Irvington. I am an out-of-state investor so I will be using a manager if I go down the short-term rental path. Are you still managing short-term rentals in this area? I am guessing the industry has changed a bit with everything that is going on right now. Thanks!

Hello all. I am a new investor that just closed on the second property in the Indianapolis area. Just curious if anyone has experience managing short-term rentals in the Indianapolis area. It looks like there are major events year-round (during normal times) so my guess is that would help with short-term rental demand.

Thank you!

Hello everyone. I am a new investor that just closed on his second property in the Indianapolis area. Section 8 is something very interesting to me and I just want to see if any investors have experience with Section 8 in the Indianapolis metro area. Thank you for your help!

Hello all. I am a new investor that just closed on my second property in the Indianapolis area. Just wondering if anyone knows if interest rate/terms for a cash-out refi is worse than a regular investment property purchase. My guess is that the banks would perceive cash-out refi as slightly riskier.

Thank you for your help!
