@Vic Marichal

Hi Vic,

It all depends on how much that 1 house a year costs, if you will be the property manager, etc.

As far as knowing the market, you can definitely get that knowledge without a license by having your "boots on the ground"

See if there is a local REIA in that area and you will learn from newbies and experienced people rents, deals, areas, etc.

If you have any specific questions when you get out here please feel free to call, text or email me.

Hope all is well,

- James

@Erik Nowacki

That makes complete sense.

IKEA has really cool designs for an inexpensive build.

That is whats cool about this post, people have all types of ideas for low, middle and high end counter-tops for rentals from all over the country.

Thanks so much for contributing.

@Brian Burke

Thanks for the input.

My competitors have butcher block in some, prefab granite in others. Formica is used here and there but not the norm at this price point.

I will definitely look for a local resurfacing company whether I use them for this project or another in the future. Good idea.

Thanks again.

@Gina C.

I'm not necessarily looking for cheap at all.

The apartments are mid range "luxury apartments" so they need to be modern, cool or desirable.

The high end marble isn't cost effective and that is why I was considering butcher blocks because tenets have expressed interest in them but they are also really inexpensive.

So many great people on the forum have suggested that they are a nightmare to maintain and they get water damaged around sinks so I am probably going to stay away from them.

Just looking for a durable material that will last a long time and doesn't break the bank too much.

Leaning toward prefab granite at this point. But still open to ideas.

Any advice you could offer would be very appreciated.

Thanks so much.

@Roy N.

Thanks for the information and the links I really appreciate it.

I am looking into the links you sent me know.

Bamboo is really tough, sometimes when I am just looking for inspiration I will walk through IKEA I look at it and think "That is priced right but how the heck will I use that?"

Thanks again for the advice

@Roy N.

Roy,

That sounds really interesting.

How have they come out so far?

Hello BP! :)

Just purchased a nice little rental in West Palm Beach, Fl. that will bring in $1000-$1400 a month income.

The entire bottom floor is covered in Mexican tile.

It would be too costly to rip up the floors and put in wood or tile.

Is there anyway to treat, clean, etc. to make this stuff look great?

Thanks everyone.

@Steven Gesis

Steven,

Great idea. I got really great results on both searches.

Thanks so much.

On a side note I love the name of your company and the website layout.

Great work.

@Joel Florek

Really great ideas Joel.

They are even making laminate counter-tops that look like butcher block if I want to still have the same look.

For the prefab granite do you have a place that you would recommend?

Build Direct, etc?

I appreciate all of your thoughts.
