@Dina Eisenberg, there was just one in SF hosted by @J. Martin.  He's getting ready to go walkabout though, so someone else (Johnson H., who I can't tag, because we're not connected on BP) will be hosting those for a while.

Welcome to Bigger Pockets, @Scott Jarvis.  What is your primary interest in real estate:  flips, buy and hold, single family or multi family?

My brother's family lived in Barrow, and my nephews are still in Anchorage.

I have looked into the market a little in your area.  I am on a Facebook page for short term rentals (travel nurses), and it seems like there may be a market there for that, especially near Providence Med. Ctr.

@Jeff Eganhouse, my friends live on Neil above the university.  He inherited the property that they are in, but I'd love to find something near them one day.

Have you checked out the marketplace here on Bigger Pockets?  There are always some interesting listings for Cleveland.  I don't personally have any experience with any of the operators, but several of them seem to have good reputations on this site.

Jeff,

I would be curious to follow along as you learn more about the Columbus market.  I have friends who live in the Columbus area, and my boyfriend is from there, but lives in California now.  We were looking around on the real estate sites (Zillow, etc.) the other night, and it didn't seem like Columbus was as good a market as, say, Cleveland.  What areas of Columbus are you targeting? 

I'm actually looking more for buy and hold, so the properties that we find interesting might be very different.

Although I'm in California now, I am a graduate of Univ. of Miss. in Oxford, and I've spent a fair amount of time in Ocean Springs, and  even Picayune (@George Lods)! 

I don't have investment properties, yet, but I own a home here.  I hopefully will be buying in the South (currently looking in Arkansas, Tennessee and Texas).

Interested to hear about the market on the Gulf Coast.
