Guys... I really wanted to attend today. I set my alarm and woke up to pouring rain. so I thought I would doze for a little bit. Well... you guys can guess what happened. I will try and make it out next week. I am new to Memphis and Brand new to REI.

Thanks guys.. @Account Closed Good words. I do intend to (and have to) find houses in quality neighborhoods just because I cant stay in bad ones.

I think most people are recommending I get a PM early on... OK. will have to focus on that.

Hey guys.. @James Wachob and @Elizabeth Wilson thanks for the invite... Will make it out to the coffee event Wednesday. I guess I did think of getting a PM but not on my first property.  Thanks @Ross Denman and @Arpan Patel. Its good to know others are doing it. I would be more inclined to buy a house as the property I want to live in and then rent it out when I move out of town. I do have a friend who lives in Memphis who might be able to keep an eye out for me. Thanks for your ideas!

I am a contractor and I go from contract to contract in wherever the jobs are. While my homebase is in Houston, TX (My kids live there) the last 5 years I have been in Ft. Worth, TX, Cookeville, TN, Indianapolis, IN, Nashville, TN, Houston, TX, Bentonville, AR and now I am in Memphis, TN. The contracts last anywhere from 6mos to 2yrs. I see this moving around as a serious impediment to me getting started with Real Estate investing at least in rental property which is my interest. I see people in other forums asking about whether they can do business in another state with an LLC, and so I know it can be done, but as a beginner?? I don't want to start off with the wrong foot. Is there anyone else here who has done it or anything to point me in teh right direction as to how I can do it.... just throwing it out there to see If I can find a way to do this.
