@Jerryll Noorden don’t take this the wrong way but, “dude”, you’re a pompous a_ _ and it’s hard to take someone seriously who has such a belittling tone. But just to add some substance to my, and I think others’ annoyance, looking at your Facebook profile you had a post about your first client 9 months ago. That’s hardly a timeframe to come into the forums thumping your chest like an alpha male expert.

And P.S. Lay off the enter key!!!

@Martez Bynum having any regrets on asking this question? Geez, LOL! Just a quick word of advice, don’t get discouraged and keep networking and searching on the various pathways you feel you can be successful at and don’t let know-at-all’s get you down.

@Yamundow Camara definitely want to open a separate account for your investment and preferable a separate one for each subsequent property. You’re fine keeping your bank local. Look into these various rent deposit software programs and I’ve even heard you can use Venmo to get your rents into your account each month. Good luck! It’s exciting to just be getting started and I’ll be rooting for you to have tons of future success!

@Jeremy Davis let me be blunt and this may not be a popular thing for you to hear on a real estate site, but I think you need to establish a different set of priorities and it may not involve real estate at all for the foreseeable future. Your wife is pursuing an amazing profession and I will with all my might encourage her to take it to the next level and become an APRN! She will be able to write her own ticket! There is a growing shortage of primary care physicians and this is only going to increase. At the same time APRN’s are increasingly the general medicine option Americans are seeing. Swallow your pride and realize she’s the priority right now or at least what your family’s priorities should center around.

With that said, not sure how old you both are but I’m guessing relatively young on the scale of real estate investors. Try not to be impatient and see the best priorities. Can you do something in real estate on the side? Certainly! My number one suggestion would be to find some friends or network to find like minded people and partner. I’m 45 years old and I’m partnering. Nothing to be shameful about not having it all for yourself especially if it’s the only way to have anything in your current situation.

I will echo what others have said and urge you to get out of any big city. Cost too much and they’re almost entirely run by politicians that make it difficult for blue collar types to succeed. Just my 2¢!

Good luck!

@Cliff H. iOS had an update last night which might explain any issues on the app because I had noticed it too.

Where I will disagree with some is that, yes we’ve had to significantly lower our rates for the current period as bookings are just beginning to trickle in, but we refuse to chase every last dollar by giving our place away. We own in a resort and we have a group of close knit owners and we know that’s in everyone’s best interest. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

@Erin Spradlin I have no regrets having invested in my STR in the Smoky Mountains some 4 years ago and I'm actually now dealing with our 2nd natural disaster in the area with my first being the horrible wildfires a few years ago in the area that squashed almost all of a holiday season with significant expenditure on smoke damage. I'm sure @Avery Carl remembers that time too.

We recovered, and like everything it seems in society today, people have short memories, although no one is going to forget Covid anytime soon. Human nature seeks out normalcy and normalcy is vacationing with loved ones. “People will come Ray, ooooh people will come!”

As for the WSJ, I agree it’s lost it’s way. It no longer is shy about promoting big government involvement in the financial aspects of society as long as it results in an increasing market, without concern of the consequences.

@Peter Baudendistel where is Highlands Residential located? Any idea if they operate in CT?

@Nicholas Mann you mentioned this market report you’ve read about a decline in your area. I live not too far from you in CT. Does this market report focus only on your specific area or the larger region as a whole. If it might encompass CT in any way, is there a chance I might have access to this report? Thanks in advance.

@Corey Kessler we’ll keep you in mind. Thank you!
