From what I've read, if you are doing cosmetic things, there is no need for a licensed contractor, but if you are doing things like wiring or structural work, the GC should be licensed.

Go down to Home Depot or Lowes as they are opening up in the morning and hang out at the Pro Desk. The guys who are up early and working are usually good. Ask the store manager, or the people who work the Pro Desk who has a good reputation in your area.

Ask around, and do your due diligence. Get a couple estimates.

A good/bad contractor can make or break a tight budget.

Thank you for your help.

I just got approved for the Capital One card. What others should I apply for?

Thank you. Is there any credit advantage to having more than one card at the same time?

I am currently trying to build/rebuild my credit. I got sick while in university and defaulted on a student loan. This and my medical bills wrecked my credit. I believe the medical bills will be removed from my credit report in six months or so.

Which credit card would be the best to start off with?

Should I get more than one?

Should I get a secured or unsecured?

Should I keep the balance at 25% or 30%?

I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post this, but I didn't see anything specifically related to my question.

I can see 40k a year being possible, but 40k a month might be tough.

But, if you can do it! My hats off to you.
