Post: Suggestions for tax professional

Hi all!

I am looking for a tax professional to work with to sort out some of my unconventional investing (including, of course, Real Estate).

I currently own a SFH rental in MI, have bitcoin gains, own dividend producing livestock in Africa, and have several other alternative investments and want to make sure I am taking the most tax advantageous approach for all of this.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a tax professional that could help me? I am considering creating a corporation.

Also, do folks prefer to work with someone like this face to face? Or have people found luck working through these items remotely? I currently live in Oakland, CA, and I fear that the folks in my area might be more expensive than say maybe someone in the midwest.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Thanks for the response, Eamonn. If I do not have my property in an LLC can I still deduct the expenses? Or does it have to be in an LLC?

I recently did an inspection and appraisal on a property that I did not end up purchasing. I own one other rental property in a different state. How can I use this to offset my rental income? I do not have my property in an LLC.

Recently the lease term ended on one of my properties and the tenant decided to stay. My management company sent a new month to month lease renewal to the tenant, and then executed the lease with someone from the management company. I had signed the original 1 year lease, and was surprised that someone from my management company had signed the renewal. Is this common practice? Does this limit my liability at all?

Beautiful brick duplex in highly desirable Bayview Milwaukee neighborhood. This area is seeing incredible growth! An ideal candidate for the BRRRR strategy!

Ordered and received appraisal this week and came in at $205,000 -- get 30k in instant equity!

Property needs some work, ARV between 215-235k depending on what you do. Bottom unit has a sunroom that could be converted into a 3rd bedroom possibly, significantly increasing the value of the property.

Cash or Hard Money only.

Get started in Milwaukee with this great multifamily property or add to your portfolio! Cash flow!

Hey Justin!

Awesome that you are getting into investing now! I am also from California and investing in a few midwest areas (including MKE). Would be happy to connect and hear why you choose Milwaukee.
