What’s your budget? Asheville market is very slim when it comes to multifamily, and the price point is pretty steep compared to some immediately surrounding areas. Best to focus on some towns slightly outside Asheville (as in, a 30-60 min drive) for more affordable options. Then again, maybe you have an unlimited budget.. who knows! :)

I vote Tom Mulloy. He did two jobs for me earlier this year.. when everyone else was SUPER backed out, he did the job exactly when he said he would, about 3.5 weeks after I contacted him. Affordable, relatively speaking, as well.

An area I see with a lot of potential for STR that's still in an affordable price bracket is Waynesville. Half way between Asheville and our region's best skiing. PS, let's define affordable… average sales price in Buncombe county (county surrounding Asheville) last month was $529,000.

I'd say 75k down for your dream home isn't too bad. You'll have a really affordable mortgage allowing you to save and build your nest egg back up quicker. For your next REI project you can make sure you BRRRR or flip to be able to recoup capital.

Here are the two STR mgmt companies in Bryson that are active and doing the work. It is a VERY small town, and they charge much higher rates than you will find in other areas nearby. So, just prepare yourself :)

We've got folks that attend our Asheville BP meetup that own several properties in Shiloh and love it. I agree with what others have said, there are still value add opportunities here.

I am loving these new construction communities in Mars Hill! It is such an easy drive from Asheville with none of the South Asheville traffic on 26. And, Mars Hill is only going to grow in its downtown scene. The new brewery there is great. I'm confident you could get at least 1350 in rent on a new home like this. Possibly even 1500.

@Oliver Doxtater, I know a few great property mgrs. A good agent will also be able to connect you to tons of vendors and contractors.
