@Mike Hern I suggest all WA landlords get involved with RHAWA! www.rhawa.org

This group does a fantastic job advocating for landlords. I do think it's extreme and hope it doesn't spill over to the state level (which also changed a lot this last legislative session).

Join us for the Skagit County Real Estate Meetup on Tuesday September 28 at 5:30 - 7:00 pm at Whidbey Coffee in Burlington (across the street from Home Depot). This is a group for all those interested in real estate to share ideas and make connections.

We are excited to meet people in Skagit, whether you are long time residents and investors, new to the area, or just want to check out Skagit County and the growing towns. This group is great for the new and the experienced; landlords, landladies, property managers, flippers, wholesalers, real estate agents, loan officers, commercial lenders, portfolio lenders, appraisers, general contractors, builders, handymen, private money lenders, real estate attorneys, buyers, sellers, insurance brokers, escrow officers, and marketing professionals.

We meet once a month, usually the fourth/last Tuesday in the evening to connect with others interested in real estate. Whidbey Coffee has a great meeting room and sometimes we migrate to a real real estate development site. Right now we are discussing the best practices in new construction, now to get through permits and energy credits, what local towns are best for new developments, and the current costs of rents. We love meeting new folks and the conversations start organically over a cup of coffee. Tag your friends here and we will see you there!

@Chris Levarek Congrats and thanks for sharing, all the way down to the name of the company! It sounds like you are really passionate about your real estate journey and so cool you could partner and bring people in along with you to even more success. Did you find it easy to raise enough money for each deal?

@Ben Freeburg I can tell you from our experience, we completed a duplex in June of 2020 in Mount Vernon, and then after getting it rented easily at top dollar, we purchased land to do another one (the one we are currently waiting for lumber). I thought that during the last project that we wouldn't want to do another, like Nic said, the last couple months are long (my husband and I did most the work ourselves too). But looking back now, the numbers worked great on our first one and it's appreciated a ton. So here we go again. Not sure if I'd do a third though...

@Nik Moushon I loved how it turned out, congrats! What a stunner of a duplex. What are you asking for rents? I'd love to see all the numbers when you get into all that. That slider patio door is awesome, and everything just looks fabulous. I'm not looking forward to all the delays. We are so slow on our duplex project, waiting as lumber prices come down a little bit.
