@Mike Neff Winston is a great market to live and invest!  My wife is an agent and would be happy to help you along your journey if you are interested in scheduling a call/meeting :).  For attorneys, we use Moss Woods or Thomas and Bennet a ton and both are great! I have spent 31/37 years of my life in and around Winston and am happy to provide any thoughts along the way.  Good luck to you and your daughter!

Hi @Mark Muse , welcome to BP and to your upcoming investment journey. The triad has a pretty well attended REIA (prior to covid atleast). I can't weigh in on that loan option, however Greensboro (or Winston) would be great areas to purchase a BRRRR. The market is super high right now, even for stuff that needs work, but deals can always be found/made. Good luck!

Tons of great info here @Zachary Steidl

I was born and raised in Winston-Salem, lived in the Raleigh area for 6 years and have lived in Winston (Winston-Salem), High Point, and now Oak Ridge since moving "home".  NC is a great state to call home and as others have said there is great variety depending on preferences. I'm partial to the Triad area (Winston, High Point and Greensboro) as it is centrally located, tons of the perks of the "bigger" cities of Charlotte and Raleigh, with significantly less traffic.  I am 1 hour and 45 mins from NC mountains and 3 1/2 from the NC coast.

My wife grew up in the area as well and is a RE agent, while I am in new home construction and invest.  We'd be happy to share however we can to help as you plan your move.  Best of luck!

Justin

Moss Woods PLLC is great. They do residential and commercial transactions. Jason Moss handles the residential and David Woods does commercial. Great guys to work with.

Hey @Robert Wright I was born and raised in Winston-Salem (Winston) and currently live in near by Oak Ridge. You have picked a great area to live and build a RE business. My wife is a local agent and I'm a local investor. Being from the area we'd be happy to chat and provide feedback on potential locations to move your fam. Shoot me a message if you wanna chat!  Either way good luck with your move!

Hi all!  Congrats @Christopher "Bear" DeSanctis on having an ah ha moment to get started in REI. I am born and raised in WS and live with my family right down the road in Oak Ridge (NC). I look to invest in the triad as well and am in new home construction for my w2 job. I'd be happy to look at any reno work you come across or get you in touch with some good contacts if needed. My wife is also an agent so happy to help however.

Small multi's are unfortunately not real common in WS but there are some for sure. Good luck as you get going and happy to connect to bounce ideas off each other.

@Trevor Woodlief you have definitely been given some great recommendations.  I would add that there are tons of active Facebook groups that are focused on multifamily. 1 in particular is https://www.facebook.com/group...

I'd also recommend David Toupin's analyzer. People I know that have used his and Michael Blank's seem to like his better. He is also a good IG follow. The analyzer is here:

Good luck going forward!

@Virginia Damato honestly not super familiar with those markets. That said what little research I have done on them it looks like if I were looking in those it'd be Clayton--> Zebulon--> Middlesex in terms of being prepared for the growth they are already seeing.

You can find them in the triad some but as @Pat Lulewicz said they get grabbed up quick. it tends to get harder after a 125k or so. House prices are rising too high relative to rental rates.

WS and Gboro definitely "safer" markets than high point in terms of growth.

Good luck!
