Trying to find out on average what people are paying for appraisals; specifically in Pittsburgh. Anyone have experience negotiating this with their lender?

I know I should have good RE lawyer as part of my team, but why? Learning the ropes and need to know for what/when to use your attorney?

@Jose Martinez I’m in San Diego and am under contract on my first rental property. It’s in Pittsburgh. My two suggestions would be to read David Greene’s book on long distance investing and once you’ve found the market you want to be in find an agent that knows it well from and investor standpoint. For me, my wife had a friend who was an agent in Pittsburgh so it took some of the nerves out having a known contact. Check with friends who may know someone if you don’t know any personally and just start analyzing deals. Good luck!

@Yonah Weiss undergrad in Geography (GIS) then obtained an MBA then became a cop which is my current W-2 Job. Just went under contract on my first rental property. I believe each phase/degree has taught me something.

@Sean McDonnell Thanks for the info. I was overly cautions on my first property and I’m thinking next go round I’ll scale back my inspection a bit and not include the Radon test
