This is statement is inflammatory and ridiculous. Even Cheney would never have authorized the water boarding of a citizen. It seems to me that one perched atop such moral high ground would not resort to flame baiting. This is not the way to get a good reputation around here.

I'm happy with the change in policy as you have described it. That feels more like a policy the America I learned about in elementary school would have.

Tim-

I think Health Care Reform has two primary arguments:

1) Save money

Medicare will go in the Red in 2009. Medical costs have skyrocketed. Reduce inefficiencies in HC while maintaining patient privacy and excellent care.

There are about 46 million people uninsured. We all pay for these people one way or another when they go to the Hospital etc... Maybe it would save money to offer these uninsured access to a pool of options (none publicly run this is the change Tim as far as I can tell) to access preventative care.

2) "Moral" argument to provide healthcare to all citizens

All human beings should have a right to health care, because its amoral to stand by and let another human being suffer etc...

I think these are the two main reasons for Health Care reform.

Personally, I think #1 is absolutely accurate, but reason #2 is bull in SOME cases. I don't like the fact that some people have jobs, nice clothes, cell phones, cars, etc... but "can't" afford health care. These people lack personal responsibility. Problem is though, one way or the other, we have to pay for these deadbeats.

I love A-Frames! (When I am at the ski resort).

I think A-Frames are people that like to heat with wood. I do not like to heat with wood.

Have a good home inspector investigate the crack.

GL! The house is kinda cool looking and has a beautiful setting.

Jon-

I am interested in the form. I am pming you my email. Thanks! (Email address is in colleague request)

Kirk

I ended up making a quick one from scratch. I found various ones online by google search "property inspection." None of them were terrific.

I use an old one I got from a Nolo CD (Every Landlords Legal Guide i think) 6 years or so ago. Its not great, but it works ok for now. If you do find a good free one, post the link.

I would like to add that the forms and contracts directory is valuable source of info.

I know nothing about Virginia, other than the location of Alexandria on a map (South of DC). Based only on this snippet of information, I was thinking you might look an hour south in smaller towns/cities of Virginia. Around here, the older cities/towns have their low income sections that aren't nearly as rough as cities. Maybe you can get a steal in there.

Just an idea...maybe a bad one. In any event happy hunting!

Edit: I was thinking Alexandria not Arlington. In any event, maybe look for low-income rentals in smaller cities is the gist of my suggestion.

I am going to be looking at 30 properties in the next 30 days. Can anyone recommend a form/checklist for walk through?

Thanks

Will-

I watched the video in your blog after reading this post. It was really exciting to see a rehab in progress. Might I kindly suggest that you consider buying a few nice custom embroidered golf shirts with your logo.

I have lived in exactly 2 apartments in my life. The second one had the thermostat for all 7 units. It was the most annoying thing in the world to have.

The landlord put it in my apartment probably because my apartment was well heated! The other people used to ***** and complain that I was messing with it.

I never touched it once!

Mike you are hilarious. I read the tenatese thing in your book. My wife and I cracked up. You should travel to all the REIA's and do stand up.
