Hello Jonathan! I am also from the Youngstown OH area! I am really impressed that you listed your first flip. I would love to hear about it. I have been listening to the podcasts on and off for about 8 months but I have not done any investing yet since I am fresh out of college. I am hoping to in the next few years. I think Youngstown is a great area for investing.

Has anyone started in real estate completely on their own? Like without help from mom, dad, family or friends? I currently want to invest in real estate but no one is supportive of that decision. Thanks in advance, I would love to hear your stories!

Brandon Long I know this site is really cool! I listened to the podcasts a lot before I even came on the site. I agree - I think this area is great for investing because real estate is cheaper than most areas. I haven't started investing yet mainly because I don't have much money saved up because I just got out of college. I am learning as much as I can before I do start to.

Austin Mudd I don't think the commute is that bad! Especially if you're driving however I am not totally sure. The Southside area is a quick commute to downtown but riding the bus is a pain!! Driving isn't bad just expensive for parking

Hello Austin Mudd ! I actually went to college in Pittsburgh. I think Shadyside and Southside are great rental markets. The only problem is that they are expensive to buy. Another thing is Southside is big with college students so there's a good chance you'll be renting to them. It has lots of bars around and gets really crazy on weekend nights. There are a lot of colleges in and around the city. I lived in a rental that was a fixed up 4 bedroom in Southside and paid 2750 (all together). Shady Side is more sophisticated and calm. Mount Washington is also a good place to look into for rentals. Parking in Southside is awful just a warning lol anyways that's my input. Good luck !

Kathy Villagomez I am not from Sandusky but I'll share what I know with you.. It has Cedar Point which is a huge attraction and it seems really busy in the summer months. It's also so beautiful in the summer. I did all the book work for the Mall and it seems as though it's not flourishing like it used to. I hope this gives you insight! There may be some prospective tenants in the area. All I know is that it's great during the summer - maybe not so great in the winter. I do think there is some drug activity throughout.

William Rauber thanks for the info! I will definitely look into them. I agree I still have to build some capital but I know it's hard to make that initially leap into investing.
