Hey everyone,
I have a question for those of you who have invested in Ohio... Cleveland, Ohio in particular. I'm looking to purchase a buy and hold property in Cleveland in the next couple of months & I'm trying to figure out which area I should focus on. I'm an out of state investor however I'll be in town on for a few days during the holidays so I'm looking to cruise around different areas to scope out the area myself. I would just love any feedback or if anyone has particular area codes that I should look into, that would be GREAT!!!
I'm looking to purchase a property for 40K or less with a good ROI.
Thanks so much for all of your help. Much appreciated
Lisa :)

It's a lot harder to find a great deal in Canada than it is in the states. I've purchased 2 properties in Montreal @ great prices that cash-flow well, but it took a while to find those deals. Seem to find deals like that everywhere in the US. Definitely planning my next moves in the midwest somewhere!

Hey Olivier, Welcome to BP. I'm from Montreal as well :) De Ville Lasalle! It's pretty hard finding great deals in Montreal but every once in a while they pop up. I purchased my 2nd property last week, in Chateauguay. It was a bank owned property & I got it for 70K under municipal evaluation with a tenant already residing in the property. Took a few months for something like this to jump out at me. Sometimes you have to be patient and just wait around but great deals do pop up. I'm planning on doing my next deals in the US. Good luck with your investing! :)

@Larry Smet Hey fellow Canadian :) Yes, definitely want to invest in the US! I just purchased my 2nd property in Montreal last week but definitely no where next to the deals that I could get in the states, particularly in the mid west. A few people mentioned Chicago, I'm gonna look into it for sure. I'm really interested in seeing what's going on in Ohio. Just have to hone in on particular zip codes. Gonna keep digging and doing my research :)
I'm also trying to figure out my taxes. Really hard to find someone who understands both Canadian and US taxes. I live in Canada but my income is now from the states & can't really get a definitive answer if I need to still file taxes in the states or only in Canada. It's so confusing.
Thanks for your advice :)
