@Milan Mehta thank you, seems like a great event! I've booked my spot should be a really good start to my trip. What areas are you currently investing in?

Hi BP!
I am a new investor from NY who has selected Raleigh, North Carolina as my market of interest. I planned a trip from May 21st to May 28th with the purpose of getting to know the area and selecting more of a specific location/neighborhood. I am looking for any advice on neighborhoods areas that you think I should look into. I am interested in buy and holds and preferably duplexes.
I also see this for an opportunity to build a team in the area. I have been looking into bigger pockets events and meetups but nothing seems to be scheduled that week - if you know of something please let me know. I am also interested in meeting agents, property managers and investors in the area. Please let me know if you are around and are available to meet, coffee on me.
Thanks in advance,
Maricruz Romero

@Will Kaufmann thank you for your reply. I am interested in buy and hold and I would be looking into duplexes. Are there any specific areas you would recommend?
I am relying more on my friend to get more general info on the neighborhoods rather than investment advice - thanks for the heads up.

Hi BP!
I am interested in the Raleigh real estate market and I will be visiting the area for a week from May 21st to May 28th. I am looking for advice from others who have gone on similar trips to get to know the area in which they are investing. When visiting a new market what are some of the things you do while there? What are some of the things I should do to get to know the market and be better prepared to invest from out of state? Who do you recommend I meet with?
Additional background - This is my first visit to North Carolina so I am not familiar with the area. I will be staying with a close friend who has lived in the area for 10+ years so she will be my primary contact and source of info. I tried searching BP meetups but doesn't look like there are any scheduled while I'm there.
Thank you, appreciate all advice!

@Raul R. thanks I am currently finishing David Greene's and I am at a point where I need to select a market before building a team. Will definitely keep landlord friendliness in mind when doing my research, I also found the Milken report will leverage it.
As for visiting the cities, what did you take consideration once you were there to make your decision? Also how did you select a specific area/neighborhood of interest?

Hi BP!
I am a new RE investor from NYC - Queens. I am currently self educating through reading books and listening to podcasts. My goal this year is to purchase 1-3 multi-family deals to rent outside of the NYC area. I am not familiar with any other states as I've lived in NYC my entire life. I am trying to select a market to invest in and I am looking for advice on how to go about researching a market. It would be great to here about how others have gone about selecting a state to invest in and figuring out what neighborhood/area they wanted to look into without having prior knowledge of the area.
This process is a bit overwhelming and I don't want to get stuck on this step. All advice and comments are appreciated!
Thank you,
Maricruz Romero
