Congrats on taking that first step and deciding on a strategy! House Hacking is a great starting strategy and greatly reduces your risk. We got started with a Live-in-flip and have found that the best way to get started is to just start.
What areas are looking at for a house hack?

A little off topic but does anyone have insight into the short term rental market in the area? I am specifically looking for areas that allow for STR and ideally ones that allow for self management. I would love to connect with anyone who has experience in this niche.

@Michael Cox do you know of any areas in Saint George that allow for self managed STR? We are looking to break into the market but would love to gain some management experience while we are at it.

Thanks for the info, @Dale Desmond! I have been looking for areas that allow for STR and it has been rough. Do you know any areas that allow for STR and allow you to manage it yourself?

Any BP members out there with experience doing STR through Airbnb in Washington county, UT? I'm trying to gauge occupancy rates as well as average base rates & cleaning fees for different times of the year. What has your experience been like? What should I beware of?
For context, we are looking at renting a SFH 2-3 bed 1-2 bath.

@Amy Kendall, id be interested to hear how renting out your basement has gone now that it's been over a year. Any complaints for going the STR route? Has it made more than a LTR? How often is it filled?
We are considering something similar in the area and would love to hear how it has worked for others.

Hello! I am new to RE investing and am trying to soak in as much knowledge so I can hit the ground running come graduation. I am looking at properties all over Utah and would love to have a MLS notifications set up for me by a local agent so I can begin analyzing deals and be ready to buy once my wife and I are out of school. We are interested in house hacking a duplex-fourplex 1-3 times in our first 3 years out of school. Any connections, advice, tips, or the like would be appreciated! Super excited for that first property!
