@Sebastian I don't believe so. There will be a greater urban feel with the downtown South project than what you see in built in the Cary area. The Amazon distribution center is a benefit to Garner but isn't as significant as the tech, finance and research jobs coming to other areas.

Hi Jacob, I spent 12 years managing large multifamily communities before transitioning into commercial office and retail 4 years ago. Multifamily and residential is an energetic business where marketing, sales and customer service are paramount. The same can be said for commercial real estate but the atmosphere is definitely more "corporate." My recommendation for landing an internship would be to start with your personal network if you know anybody who is connected to any real estate in the area. Also, look into some of the industry associations. They post job opportunities on their sites. Namely, the triangle apartment association (multifamily), BOMA (commercial) and IREM (management). Creating a great linkedin profile and resume is definitely important. Whatever prior experience or education you have can be applied to real estate. Once you have that setup, I'd reach out to HR people, managers and brokers. I'm in Raleigh/Cary. Email me if you have any questions.

Raleigh/Durham/Cary has become pretty expensive so you may want to explore a secondary and tertiary market within 50 miles of where you live in the triangle. Holly Springs and Fuquay Varina are developing well as 540 continues to extend. Sanford and Pittsboro have potential depending on the Moncure Megasite and Chatham Park. Nat'l Assn of Realtors ranked Burlington as the #2 hottest market in the country (based on supply/demand, days on market). Many investors have jumped into Rocky Mount if you live on that side of town.

Congrats Pat!

@Blake Edwards I think it's a good idea to contribute and get that additional income from your employer. You can roll it into in IRA when you leave your company

Pfizer actually has a 200+ acre campus there that they just expanded on and added 300 jobs. At 28K population it's about the same size as Holly Springs or Fuquay Varina. Won't likely grow like Raleigh or Durham but economic engines are there.

@Taylor Shapiro I haven't signed up for their coaching but I read their book. It could be a great resource for new multifamily investors. I'm a certified apartment manager with the national apartment association so I really don't need their coaching program. But someone without experience who is serious about multifamily investing could get a lot of value out of it. The book is $20, $6 on Kindle and I think it's a good way to get familiar with the basics. People have to decide for themselves if the coaching is worth the money. Feel free to email me with any other questions - Matt at ChasewoodProperties.com. Good luck!

Thank you! Would scheduled meetups appear under "Real Estate Events and Happenings" or should I look elsewhere for details on the exact time and place?
