He scared the American people into thinking that if him and the Congress did not pass the stimulus package, the economy would fall into an abyss, never to recover and that by passing it the national unemployment rate would not go above 8%. Obama is going to have a tough as hell challenge for re-election. He is in NO way going to be able to run the same campaign that he did in 2008. In 08 he ran against the establishment and in 2012 he will BE the establishment. By then his administration will truly own the economy, the war on terrorism, relations abroad, etc. He won’t be able to get away by blaming Bush, Clinton, Silly Old Joe Biden, an Alaska Governor or a Wise Latina.

However, there is a way that Obama can be reelected and we have been down this road before. A THIRD PARTY candidacy. If this happens, the Republicans are toast and the Democrats will maintain control of the White House. A third party candidate would gobble up some of the independent and Reagan Democrat votes, thus allowing Obama to win only a popular vote plurality, but a electoral college majority.
