Hi Albert! Welcome to BP and congratulations on wanting a brighter financial future for yourself and your family.  There are some really good points shared from all of the BP members on this thread.

Knowing your WHY is a big one. Are you looking to invest to:

1. Make your job optional (replace your active income with passive income)

2. Supplement retirement (Determine how much you want coming in per month and when you want it by) Set a goal with a date.

3. Pay for college for kids

4. Reduce your tax liability

5. Leave a financial legacy to your beneficiaries

6. Financially help elderly parents

7. Fill in the blank

Knowing your WHY will help you stay focused on your end goal.  Knowing the 5 ways real estate pays you is the foundation for knowing WHY you invest in real estate long-term.  These are the secrets of the wealthy.  Happy to share my 16 years of investing knowledge with you. Feel free to connect. Cheers!

James...This video is crazy! Rental property is not all rainbows and butterflies, but long term real estate is the best wealth builder.  It may come with temporary problems that can be easily resolved with new residents and some reconditioning costs. Temporary & resolvable problems is the trade off for long term wealth generation.

Hi Jace...Welcome to BP & congratulations on taking the plunge into investment real estate!  BP is an exceptional platform to connect and learn from other real estate investors. The determining factors on which markets to consider investing include: a stable and diverse economy, low property taxes, landlord friendly laws, job growth, population growth and a business friendly climate. Large anchor employers is another key ingredient to look for when you are looking to deploy your investment capital.  There are several areas throughout the country that offer these things and more. There are some areas in the Midwest and Southeast that fit this criteria. I love helping new investors get started in this RE investing world.  One of the first things every new investor needs to know and understand is the 5 Ways Real Estate Pays Investors. I am happy to share my knowledge with you. Feel free to message me. Cheers!

@Jay Hinrichs great to connect! Our CEO, Lindsay, is on BiggerPockets a bit in her free time but I recently joined to follow along on some forums here myself.

@James Wise we will always regard you and your team as one of the leading experts in our industry! And we certainly respect all of the partners we've worked with in the past. We all have the same goals at the end of the day!

BiggerPockets is such a great space to learn about real estate investing but we have focused our efforts on providing helpful information and useful content in relevant forums, rather than promotion.

@Luke DeJong I'm so glad to know you've had a positive experience with us! @Bryan Hartlen We have not seen many of our investors (new and old) utilize BiggerPockets as a resource in recent years but I'd be happy to send you a list of investors that would agree to speak with you to gain insight from their experiences. We would encourage them to share the good, bad, and ugly so you can gauge whether we are a good fit for your investment needs.

While it's true that many of our clients haven't directly come from this platform, I'm excited to be part of the BiggerPockets community now as well. Looking forward to being more active in this community and contributing where we can.
