I agree - Jeff has sold multiple properties for my investing business. You'll be in great hands.

I don't think there's a #1 way, but it's one of many ways. REIAs can be full of tire kickers, but you can also find quality investors to build good relationships with.

Hi Alex. Welcome to the community and the island scene. Just dig right into the forums here, download the beginner guide, read a ton and be sure to visit the monthly REIAs so you can interact in person with other investors. I flip a lot of properties on Oahu and it's a great market to get involved in.

Aloha Andrew. While I don't live in Honolulu anymore, I still do most of my investing (flipping) there on Oahu. I just closed out a great duplex deal in Kaimuki last Friday. It's a great market to get started in. Be persistent with your marketing, build a brand and visit local REIAs to start to build your team and overall network.

Aloha Kanani. Welcome to BP and the greater Hawaii investing community. I invest full time, mostly on Oahu and focusing almost exclusively on flips right now with projects from Ewa to Hawaii Kai. What is it you want to get out of investing and what types of investing are you looking to do?

Hi Raymond - welcome to BP and to the Hawaii investing scene. I do a lot of flips on island. You did what most people don't do already -- market for deals. That's great that you're already sending out letters - hopefully the phone will ring and you'll be on your way. The biggest tip is to remember that the key to marketing is consistency. Mail every 3 to 4 weeks and don't worry about any naysayers or angry callers - it's a part of the business and part of the fun. :)

Hi, Lois. Welcome to BP. I live in San Diego but my main business right now is on Oahu. What type of investing are you looking to do? Flip? Wholesale? Buy and hold?

Welcome to BP, @Richard Crowell. I appreciate where you're coming from. I do a lot of flips on Oahu and starting with nothing before joining a mentorship program. All of the above posters give great advice. You can't expect someone to immediately take you under their wing as an apprentice, though. Follow the above advice, work on your education and engage with other investors along the way. You may want to consider going to HIREI, which meets once a month. That will help get your mindset in the right place with a bit more concrete details than just energy and motivation -- those only take you so far. Surround yourself with other investors and your path will start to unfold.

That's what these forums are for. There are 1001 nicer ways to say what he said. You asked a simple, honest question. Nothing wrong with that and don't let him dissuade you. Ask away.....
