Great!  It seems that there may be some interest!

I will get to work on setting something up, hopefully for some time in October.

I will post it on the Bigger Pockets Events Page and also message those who have responded to this thread.

Looking Forward...Mike

Would like to hear from folks investors/landlords who might be interested in getting a meetup group started in Southeast Vermont and Southwest New Hampshire.  Southern Connecticut River Valley area, Vermont towns in and around Brattleboro, Bellows Falls, Springfield, Windsor, Ludlow and New Hampshire Towns of Keene, Walpole, Chesterfield, Claremont.

Thinking about having a get together, once per month for a couple of hours to discuss, goals, challenges, solutions, frustrations, etc..

Just trying to see if there is some level of interest right now.  If there is any interest at all, I will set something up and post it on the Events forum.

Looking Forward,

Mike Foster

If you are looking for cash flow.  Look for less expensive towns surrounding Boston....ie the path of progress.  As Boston gets more and more expensive it will keep pushing people further and further out of town for housing they can  afford.  I have a friend who commutes from Providence, Rhode Island because he and his family can afford a really nice house there that they could not afford in Boston.  Good luck!!

Craig,

Welcome to the forums.   I am a rental property investor further down the Ct River Valley in Bellows Falls, VT.

I have thought your area might work well for short term rentals for families visiting loved ones at the Medical center and parents visiting their kids at Dartmouth, etc

Something to keep in mind when you are looking around for investments.

Best of Luck with your venture.

Mike

Hi Siobhan,  I have two, three-unit properties in Bellows Falls, Vt about 40 minutes from Okemo/Ludlow.

I have not used her real estate services, but I know her and she is a long-time realtor in the Ludlow area and does alot of resort properties.  If I were shopping for a property in that area I would probably try Teresa Dinapoli.

Good Luck

If they are great tenants, try to work with them.  If they are good responsible people, which it sounds like they are, their guests are not likely to be horrible monsters who are going to trash your house and never leave.

Make it clear to them that the floors are newly refinished and they will need to pay for any damage.  Maybe they can put down a few extra rugs or something.  Maybe send them a letter after talking to them summarizing your conversation so there is a paper trail just in case.

I have apartments with wood floors and renters with dogs and don't have any problems.

Siobhan,

Okemo is a great four season resort area.  I grew up there and still live nearby.  The skiing is great during the winter.  Golf and beautiful lakes and hiking during the summer.  A nice village with lots of restaurants. I think it would be a great place to invest in short term rentals.   Vail Resorts recently bought the ski resort which seems to be bringing a lot of new people to the area.

Based on the numbers a house I am looking at is a great deal.  But it is in a flood plain and will require flood insurance.

Is buying a house in a floodplain crazy?  Should I run away?

Hi There Folks,

I am looking for recommendations for detailed training courses for investing basics like lease options, seller financing, etc.

Looking for something that gives the nitty-gritty, how-to details.

Interested in online or on-site.

Thanks
