Post: Property Management Co in Pittsburgh, PA

So its been about a year since the last thread on property management companies in Pittsburgh, so I would really like to get some newer input. Who do you like? What firms have you left? Who would you recommend?
The names I have floating around are:
MACE, Arbors, WIN, Equity, Crown, Craig/Craig, Steiner, Real Property Management - Who am I missing?
Some things I am looking for in a firm are:
- tech savvy and automated processes (including payments)
- experience with out of state investors
- great attention to detail
- great communication skills
This will be to manage 2 to 4 SFHs in the Pittsburgh area.
Thanks for your input!

Hope these are going well. Would certainly like to join you but it just happens that the time did not work for 2 weekends in a row.

Denny,
Welcome to BP! I have learned more here in less than a year than anywhere else. Its a great resource. My suggestions are search the archives for topics of interest, attend some of Brandon's free webinars, of course listen to the podcast and ask lots of questions.
Also, I wanted to say hi as I left Baltimore county last Winter and while I love our new home in CA, I felt like reaching out as a past-Marylander!

What am I working on?
- Are you actively buying properties, if so, what type property are you looking for?
In 2016, I will be actively buying SFH outside of CA. - What is your niche?
Generally buy and hold, but very interested in the vacation/short term rental market and flips. - What area of southern California?
I am in LA County, Pasadena. - Are you just getting started?
Yes and no. I am going from owning one rental property that I managed pretty casually to taking a more serious approach and looking at real estate investment as a career and as a major part of my family's future. - What help do you need to move you ahead?
Right now I am looking for part-time contract work in the industry managing REI projects or supporting investors who need extra help managing their various projects. - What are your needs? (locating property, money, partners, expertise, etc.)
My main issue is now getting part-time contract work in the industry. My secondary issue is finding an investor friendly agent and great property manager in the Pittsburgh area.

Hi. Greetings from Pasadena! I suggest you come to the local Pasadena FIBI meeting. Check out Meetup.com to see the dates. I am a fairly new investor and I have found these meetings to be very valuable.

@Boyd Hunter I happened to come across this today. It lists most of the October meetings in the So Cal area. I say most as it is missing FIBI Pasadena. But it is a pretty big list and might help get you started.

Boyd,
Hi. I am not sure about that particular area but there are several meetings in SoCal. It will all depend on how far you are willing to drive to get to one. :)
My suggestion is to use meetup.com which seems to have all the FIBI (For Investors by Investors) meetings and to google REIA meetings. This page has quite a bit of info and meetings listed. Not sure if you will be closer to what is called the Inland Empire or San Diego from the area you are moving to.

Hope this gets you started.

@Russell Brazil Thanks! This is very helpful and will definitely help inform my conversations with our agent (also with Long and Foster). If I find out any specifics I will try to post them.
