Post: Finding House Hack Deals in Portland Market

Hey @Chase Stewart I'm a current house hacker in the area and owned a property in Portland, Multnomah County to be exact. House hacking is my niche actually and I know it very well. When it comes to Portland, or just the Portland Metro area. It is extremely difficult to find a property that will cash flow ( money left over to you after all expenses etc). A few people on this thread touched on this, but you are going to have to look at the deals differently in order for it to make sense. Oregon has been an appreciate state for a solid few years and even more recently. If you are looking into Portland, and the property is within Multnomah county, it's going to be difficult to get caught up with the market rate due to the laws in place and just in general Multnomah isn't great for "landlords" . However that leaves room for investors that are OK with that type of market, when others rather not be in that type of market.
I would be more than happy to be a resource for you when it comes to this specific type of investing, house hackers gotta stick together !
Feel free to message me anytime.

Hope you all are having a great finish to this year! I am already preparing myself for next years goal, which is to invest out of state. I am located in Portland, OR and I am looking to hit this year running with my first out of state property.
I am looking to connect with fellow like minded investors in Tucson, Az to help me Invest out of state and also build genuine relationships along the way. I have visited Tucson a couple of times and thought it would be worth looking to invest in and so far from my search, it's looking like a good place to start.
When it comes to the types of properties I am looking to get into, it would be SFH that would need some small rehab work or little to nine, for LTR or even STR possibly.
Looking to chat with you all!

Hey @Joe Stone , welcome to BP !
If you are trying to connect with more investors this is a great place to start. Not sure which side of town you live in but there's quite a few of REI meetups that happen on the West Side of town and some on the East side of town. The networking events do show up on here, so I would definitely keep an eye out for that.
If you ever want to chop it up and talk RE I'm always up for a conversation.
Cheers and best of luck to you !

@Lara White I have not. Thank you for sharing that !
I have my father in law who is retired and has live out there for quite some time. I have visited only 2 times and I like the area.
Also, I have looked online for multi family & it seems fairly cheaper than where I live now. Have been told rents tend to be pretty solid as well and the bright side it’s a landlord friendly state from my understanding

Hey BP Family.
I am currently looking to learn more about Tucson and the neighborhoods to look out for when investing in Multi-family. My goal is to buy a Multi family (2-4) within the next couple of months, once I get the systems in place and educate myself more on the area. I understand that it is fairly expensive in Az, however I don't think it is as expensive as Portland OR just yet. I understand I could be totally wrong as well.
Anyone willing to have a conversation with me and educate me some, I would appreciate it !
