@Choon Yee Dee In what state are your properties located? Regardless, the location of your CPA is not as imperative as their knowledge in REI. since you are looking to grow your real estate portfolio, I would talk to a few CPAs (that specialize in REI), and, specifically, those that offer packages for tax planning. Talk to a few and select the one that best aligns with your goals. Best of luck to you during this tax season!

@Alba Cheung Happy tax season! Regardless of where you live and/or own properties, the most important quality to look for in a CPA is one that specializes in real estate! If I were you, I would research a few REI CPAs and talk to a few; then, hire the one that best aligns with your goals. Best of luck!

@Dylan Graham welcome to BP! I grew up in SD and moved to Temecula a few years ago, which was also right about the time when I discovered Bigger Pockets. I have some rentals out in Florida, but hope to purchase some more properties in CA in the next several years. Glad to have you here!

@Robbie McCarthy you are exactly right in wanting to find a quality CPA who can help you grow by using tax planning strategies. My greatest piece of advice would be to look for a CPA who specializes in real estate investing, regardless of whether the CPA is in your same city or state.

@Dane Burgwald my suggestion is to reach out to a few real estate CPAs, regardless of their location as the location of your CPA isn't as crucial as their experience with real estate. Many CPAs on this forum have clients and properties across the U.S.

@Tony Johnson Are you looking to invest in more real estate? Here are a few tips...The location of your CPA isn't as crucial as their experience with real estate. Many CPAs on this forum have clients and properties across the U.S. Just an FYI, since you are interested in tax planning, make sure you are willing to invest in a quality CPA, even if the initial cost comes at a surprise to you, great tax planning should save you more money in the long run! That's what I always tell my clients. If I were you, I would reach out to a few CPAs, get some quotes, and pick the one that best aligns with your goals!

@Evan Bell - I personally don't trust any 1-800 providers haha. Not a bad quote though. I would just be worried about being another number on their large list of clients.
