I'm looking for a local appraiser in Richmond who is willing to let me take them out for coffee/lunch and learn about the appraisal process. Please send me a note if interested or if you know anyone who would be willing to help.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Will,

From what I know, you should be able to get a DC license by reciprocity once you have a MD or VA license by passing the law portion of the DC real estate exam.

Here are some additional resources. I would recommend to contact DPOR just to make sure.

Good luck!

@Brandon Luke I think you are thinking of the requirement to be a licensed salesperson for 2 years before you can apply to become a broker. If you complete your education requirements for a salesperson, pass the exam, and find a broker to 'hang' your license with, you will be able to get MLS access. Just to give you an idea of time frame - I took the class in July, passed the exam on 8/14, and signed with a broker yesterday. My license 'should' be active by next week, at which point the last step will be to register with a realtor association (like NAR) and then you can register and obtain MLS access.

@Mark Creason That's a very good point. I do not have POA for the LLC. There are three owners - me (agent), my boyfriend (business development), and a friend (contractor). We each have equal shares in the ownership. If I understand what you are saying correctly, in TX, all three of us would have to sign the listing agreement as the seller? If that's also the case in VA, I will have to look into the POA.
