UPDATE: We built the closet and the day of the appraisal I asked the appraiser about the closet. She said a closet is needed for a room to be considered a bedroom in houses built after the 1920s. So it was a good decision to do the closet.

Thanks for all the answers guys. Im going to do a simple closet to make sure. Im doing a cash-out refinance and I want it to appraise as high as possible. Then the plan is to rent it.

2 years ago I purchased a 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom property. I remodeled the kitchen and in the process removed one of the bedroom's closet because it was sticking out intto the kitchen. Im about to get it appraised for refinancing. Would that bedroom with no closet be still considered a bedroom?

@Kathy Henley that is awesome. My wife and I are about to start or journey and we want to accomplish as much as we can in 3 years. You were able to purchase all of those units in 3.5 years. That is an inspiration. What is your method? How are you financing your deals?

Betty Cruz congrats on your purchases. We are from San Antonio too getting ready to start our journey. We want to get a HELOC as well and we are looking for options. Who did you use to get the HELOC?

Michael Anderson i have a similar situation. I have a property and i was also debating on getting a HELOC or cash out refinance. I think i will go for the HELOC option. Since you already went through the HELOC process, did you have to appraise the property yourself, meaning hiring a person to appraise it, or that is something the bank/lender takes care of?
