Post: Travis County Texas Eviction Moratorium

Hello All!

We are unfortunately needing to evict a tenant for nonpayment of rent in Travis County, Texas. The tenant has not lost income or work due to Covid-19 and is not eligible for CDC aid. Our research indicated that we only needed a three day notice to vacate but we are seeing 30 days now. Does anyone in Texas or specifically the Travis County area know if we are able to proceed with the eviction process? We are considering getting an attorney, but not sure where to start with that either.

Thank you for your assistance in advance!

@Aaron Gordy Thanks for your reply. I'm glad that you think so. In regards to the obstacle that you brought up, I'd love to hear your opinion on this: We want to start investing instead of waiting for the 8-9 months left we have on our current lease, so for our first property, we wouldnt actually be house hacking, instead putting up all units for rent. Our second property would come after we have finished our current lease and that would be the property we would look to house hack. With that in mind, do you think it would be more reasonable that way? Thanks for your insight.

@Alice Huang

Hi Alice,

Thanks for the response. That is so kind of you! Thank you for your generosity.

My girlfriend Bridget and I are looking for a broker that we can work with longterm, ie more than just one deal. That's all I mean by partner. We just want someone on our team for the long haul so that we can build a strong relationship.

I hope that answers your question.

Thanks so much!

@Jordan Moorhead Hi there. Since we are working from home, we are very flexible with the area. We've been looking all around Travis county, mainly Austin, Pfluegerville, and recently Montopolis, as an up-and-coming area. We are looking for primarily Triplexes and Quadplexes and intend to house hack with them. We are currently in a lease, renting out a space since we moved to Austin from California just before corona happened.

Looking forward to chatting.
