William, is there a population in the area that can fill these units if they were rehabbed? Are there jobs within a reasonable distance? Looking at the population graph, it resembles a mini Detroit.

Do double time and get the $5000. You will need some extra money to keep out of pocket when repairs come up.

You can keep studying and be a homeowner. Just make sure that you will be able to afford the monthly payments, even if you don't have roommates for some period of time.

Isn't "worth nothing" a bit of an exaggeration? Even tear downs in Detroit are selling for something. Also, I think these prices reflect the down economy and real estate market. But, who knows.

Do they need to get these off their books so badly that they will sell properties for less than $2,000?

Still running a loss of over $100M a year.
