Scott S. Thanks for the help, yea I'm still gathering all the information I need to be successful, thanks to the good folks of BP.. Question to you is if there is away around the FHA loan that I have to live there b/c I rather rent out all the apartments, I live in 3 family house that my family owns so my rent is cheap so that's not a big deal for me

Hey I'm looking to get my first buy and hold property by next year, I'm trying to put some money away to add with my taxes. I'm looking to use a FHA loan for a multi family house I'm from the bronx, ny and most of the homes are in the 300,000 to 450,000 range. My question to y'all is do you think that's a little to pricey start of with and should I look at fixer uppers, also should go a little feather from my area.. Thanks

hey another question from a newbie, just wanted to know what are best ways in finding tenants for your buy and hold property? I'm in the New York era but it don't matter where you are from just want all the advice I can get.

Consider checking out HUD homes for small multi's owner occupied gets first crack.

You might consider Niche or Specialized Housing like student housing. Rents can be 2-4 times more. Remember you don't have to own a property to control it.
