Post: When vetting a "Private Lender"

What are good questions to ask when scanning through a few "private lenders" to make sure I do not get scammed.  Any advice/help would be much appreciated.  I googled some questions to ask and also asked my Real Estate agent friend but I would like some opinions of the savy investors here just to make sure. Thank you.

@Jose Guevarra also. Do you have any links or message me with a phone number I can call to get ahold of the organizers of these events. Thank you for the update.

@Jose Guevarra I have tried to get to the one in SLO, it's difficult at times because I work in Santa Barbara. There have been a few in the Santa Maria area, but we're cancelled a few times, but I have tried to go to a few in the area. I'm stoked.

@Jason Francia thank you.  I will be in Los Angeles that day for business, that is why I am going to the Culver City happy hour.  However, I would love to come and join the Santa Maria one as well.  Hell, I am willing to drive to Bakersfield or the closest one available just to meet investors.  Are you the organizer of the SM one at Fig Mountain?  If not, can you shoot me a notice when the next one will be after the 21st.  I didn't see it up on the EVENT page when I was looking.  Thank you in advance.

@Jason Francia really? I have been looking all over the place for a group. Sometimes if not enough people RSVP they get cancelled on Meetup. Is it going on right now, I will drive over there now.

I will be there.  I will be coming from a distance away (Santa Maria), but I will be in the neighborhood so I might as well meet like minded people and get my network on.  See you then.

@Amber Smith thank you. I appreciate the words of encouragement. Plus, I appreciate the insight of highs and lows when purchasing.

After talking to @Chris Hopper on this post. I went ahead and put in two offers this past week. Denied on one and waiting to hear back on another. Now I am hooked. After crunching numbers on the two offers I realized I just have to jump in and start swimming, eventually I will be taking the floaties off and doing backstrokes soon enough. Thanks for the response. Have a great day.

I was born and raised in Bakersfield and left when I went to the Marine Corps back in 1990.  Since that time Bakersfield has doubled in size.  It's not because of the oil industry either.  It's close enough to L.A. without having to live there, and it's close enough to the Central Coast of California where I live now (Pismo Beach & Five cities area).  The cost of living in Bakersfield is alot less than where I am now.  With what the two gentleman said up above, the jobs are still in Bakersfield and growing.  I intend to start investing there in the very near future and already have assembled a team to do just that.
