Being new to this whole REI world. Is this a good vehicle to start off with and get feet wet, or, should I just go in to actual tangible RE? A lot of information out there.

Thank you all for the well wishes and great information.  I will do some research.  

I am a new member living in Californaia.  New to investing in Real Estate, however, I have bought a few houses over the last 12 years. But they were primary.  So I understand the basics.  Never bought an investment property before and looking to jump in soon.  Been researching the RE industry for about 3 years now.  I think it's time to take action.

I hope I can find some good information and hopefully start this chapter in life on the right foot.   

My gf and I closed on her house (now ours) after getting her ex husband off title and adding me in a refinance. She has about $75k in equity. We want to invest. What would some of you consider doing with some/all/or none of the equity when JUST GETTING into investing.  Tips??
