yes I an definitely in the learning process right now. With a sherrifs sell do you get a better bargain or does the bank put up the property for how ever much the loan was in default for? For example a home cost $150000, and the owner stopped making payments once it got down to 110000, would the bank or sherrifs sell auction the property for the $110000 as a starting bid or would it be less?

Hey BP! Quick question if I have a pre approval letter and want to buy a house at an auction that i know already has equity in it, is it possible to put the money down required to be in the aution and then use the pre approval letter from the bank?

@Shari Lawson my goals are to build a better savings acct of liquid cash but ultimately to buy and hold once I have a nice cushion. Its hard for me to decide if I should let this house go because of the benefits holding properties have.

Hi I am currently a home owner of a single family. I am interested in getting involved in real estate to flip and to buy and hold. I am ready to move out of our home into something better but I am debating if I should flip it or keep it and rent it. If I flip it that would give me about $12000 profit after closing. I am just debating what to do because if I keep it I can open up an equity line and use those funds. Does anybody have any advice on pros n cons of both?

@Meghan McCallum id love to get coffee and talk more. I will also look into the RE meet up.  Would you like to schedule a time or a phone conversation for starters?

@Matt Fisher the nearest meet up i have found is in Iowa city. Do you still have any contact details by chance? @Matthew Roe i am definitely seeking to shadow somebody in my area and learn more about the process and all the different terminology before i make my first major move. I would love to be able to learn about your experience. Do you only do flips?
