Been there done that. I had a mechanics lien on a nice new construction for my plumbing services. I ended up with squat. The builder had borrowed from the developer to build. Developer ended up foreclosing on builder. I would stay away from it.

Of course make sure you have a traditional P shaped drain trap known as a "P Trap" and make sure it is installed properly so you have 1/4" per foot negative grade toward the sanitary tee fitting in the wall.A tight trap joint with no leaks assures a proper water seal in the belly of the trap to isolate any sewer gases or odors'
To this day ,I go out on plumbing calls for complaints of odors and find fixtures without proper traps or vents sometimes in million dollar homes and businesses.Yeah,,,,,,go figure guys,,,,,
Hope this helps

He has already stated its new construction highly unlikely there is a broken vent pipe, especially a galvanized one. Broken vent pipes or p-traps that are losing prime will stink all of the time, not how the OP has stated. I'm 99% sure its the pop-up and overflow as 1 other person has suggested. Oh, and the back of business card does say "Your plumbing expert"

I have seen when crud accumulates and then gets wet, it will start smelling. when it dries, it will go away. if this is where it is coming from, try pouring bleach down the overflow. stop up the sink, and run hot water until the sink is full and water is flowing into overflow. if that doesn't resolve it, you may have to disassemble pop up assembly and clean it out.
This is it.

You have to pay back the 350k you borrowed for construction regardless of prop value.

I've built both my personal house that exact way. Paid cash for the land, interest only on construction note, closed on permanent financing at completion with land as down payment/equity. Permanent loan would be 350k.

Thank you
I would keep saving until you build up a bigger pile than 2k. Currently I would focus on the education, trying to get out of school with little to no debt. Also read as much as you can on REI, but avoid the guru classes and get rich quick schemes.

I used the lease form right here of the BP website, in the tools section. I'm sure you are already aware, but strict tenant screening BEFORE you sign a lease will be your moost important thing. Good luck.

He was angry at me because it was an over the phone hearing and no one told me I had to use a land line, so he told me to shut up and awarded the law firm that sued me not only the $7000 balance I couldn't prove I already paid, but 5.5 years of interest, all the legal fees, plus interest until it's paid. I got screwed royally by our lovely legal system. So I hope it's not my ethics you are questioning.
No Brenda I apologize maybe I should have been a little more clear. My point was whether or not you truly owe the money. It sounds like you did the right thing and are not getting a fair deal. Good Luck!

I max out the 529 for my son every year. Just do the monthly auto draft and forget about it.
